What equity screens or considerations do you make when creating your work and how does that play out in your work and its accessibility? (race, disability, gender, etc.)
In my opinion, this is a matter of empathy. I approach every project with a beginner’s mind-set. I work to understand what others see, feel, and experience in order to accurately convey emotion in my work. When creating, I’m focused on how things feel rather than how things look. Beauty is subjective. I find that it’s far more impactful to tell an authentic story as opposed to “painting a pretty picture”.
